Crack open the seasol and celebrate!
But once that’s done, here are a few quick tips to help your new plant friends settle into their new home.
You should pot up your plants as soon as possible.
Place them somewhere very sheltered for a few days and then gradually increase the intensity of light until they reach their intended spot.
Time in transit will determine how long the acclimation process should be.
Most orders arrive in 1-3 days which means it will only take a week or so to settle your new plant friends in.
We grow all of our plants with the intention of providing as much light as possible without causing damage.
What does that mean?
Our plants are not grown “softly” a practice very common in the nursery industry which leads to faster but weaker growth.
As with any relocation, it takes time to settle in and we recommend taking things slowly for at least a week and monitoring your plants to ensure they are settling in well.
If you notice scorching or burning which is unlikely but possible, immediately move the plant to a sheltered spot and then begin working your way back up to stronger light. -
A light water 1 week after potting will help your new plants settle in.
For this first water, the water should reach the bottom of the pot but not be pouring out.
After that, wait a week to 10 days (depending on time of year) and water lightly again.
Once the above 2 cycles are completed you can resume your regular schedule.
We do not recommend misting plants to settle them in and would caution against misting or getting the body wet during the establishment phase. -
Everything we sell is grown by us.
Almost exclusively from seed with very few exceptions.
What are the exceptions?
We have been collecting plants for over 10 years, during this time we have acquired some exceptional specimens which we have propagated within the nursery enabling us to share these incredible plants with you.
The exceptions make up less than 5% of our total inventory. -
Some are.
Cacti & succulents are a very diverse group of plants, with this comes varying degrees of difficulty.
There can even be variances within one particular group.
For example:
Lobivia, they are generally fuss free and easy to care for however there are a few within the family that represent a bit more of a challenge.
We often include the difficulty level within our listings.
